Postal Application
A new version of the Online Visa Application Form will be applicable for applicants wishing to apply for a Visa to India. The new online application form, which will need to be completed when submitting documents for a visa to India, will commence from 22nd July 2011 across Switzerland(Refer website for Jurisdiction) and will be mandatory for all applications made at the India Visa Application Center (IVAC) on behalf of The Embassy of India, Berne

Postal applications need a minimum of 10 working days to be processed. This does not include the period they are in transit to and from the Embassy of India, Bern. Application once sent in post can not be withdrawn unless there is an emergency for which documentary evidence shall be required. VF Services (Switzerland) Ltd, shall not bear responsibility for any delays in postal transit or loss in transit owing to third party involved.

Please note: Kindly enclose the original payment slip along with your postal application. Incomplete application or applications with insufficient funds will not be processed and shall be returned.

Important: Same Day Visa Service is not available:
   
You are applying for India Visa by Post
You are a Non - Swiss National
You are applying for a long term visa ( More than 6 Months)
You do not hold a Valid Passport but only Identity document or other travel documents

Mode of Payments:

Applicants who wish to submit their applications via post can make a payment via Die Post office outlets across Switzerland.

Please make the payment in favour of "VisaVia AG" " Account Number 60-784847-1 at Swiss Post Office Outlets. For details please click here to refer the guidance note.

Kindly do not enclose any cash in your postal application envelope. VFS will not be responsible for the loss of cash.

Please note that applications will not be processed until the correct visa fees and service charges are paid

Postal Return of Passports:

You have the option of having your passport returned, once processed by the Embassy of India, via Die Post at a nominal charge of CHF 8.50 (in addition to the visa fees & service charges) to be paid at the time of submitting your application. The processed passport will be sent directly to your home/office address as specified by you via Die Post Registered Post.

PROCESS


Step 1:
Click, All About Visas” Confirm the visa type, based on your reason for travel; do not make any confirmed bookings.
Step 2:
Complete your online application
Step 3:
If the application has been completed you must download & print all form/s, read and complete checklist for type of visa.
Step 4:
Check fees payable, payment Options and documents required. All such details can be found in the respective visa categories under the section
Step 5:
Sign form/s at all indicated places. (signatures required on visa application form 2x, referral form (if applicable) 1x)
Step 6:
Ensure photos are strictly as per specifications. (link) (size 50mm x 50mm, colored and light background. A fotobooth taking pictures as per specification is available at the IVAC Bern (4pics for the price of CHF 20)
Step 7:
Check processing time to plan your travel accordingly.
Step 8:
Attach all supporting documents required as per the Checklist. Make sure your application is complete. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.
Step 9:
Submit your Application along with the passport and required documents at the Indian Visa Application Centre in Berne in person, by a representative or by mail (see postal applications)
Step 10:
Track your Application online.
Step 11:
Your passport will be returned to you by the mode of delivery opted by you when submitted.
